Student Art
Students were given the following options to choose from for their visual art project.
Option 1: Rethinking and Remodeling Gender
Take an issue or stereotype that you find important, and illustrate how you would like this problem to be changed.
Option 2: Raising Awareness
Bring attention to an issue or group of individuals that you feel are overlooked.
General Thoughts: I am proud of my students for putting a lot of thought and effort into these projects. They did a great job of showing what they've learned and what gender liberation means to them.
Change
The description of this drawing is to show the stigma that women have of always being "stuck" and not having the opportunity to succeed. Then the bottom part is to show that women also have the opportunity to lead our country in many different ways.
Music Cannot Define Gender!
Stereotypes are not noticeable to many people until they actually go through one. Moms tend to have a standard or expectation on their daughters. Some of those being, what they wear, what sport they play, or even what music they listen to. It's things such as music that helps people destress themselves. Therefore, society or parental expectations should not make it difficult for people to express who they are or what they believe in!
The Real American Dream
"Many people come to America looking for opportunities and a better life, but not everyone can accomplish the American Dream."

Violence Against Transgender People of Color
I got my inspiration from our teachers who talked a little bit about the unjust treatment of transgender people, more specifically transgender people of color. The articles of laws pertaining to the transgender community having to be diagnosed with a mental disorder in order for them to have a sex change also kind of inspired me to bring light to their situation. Here I am basically highlighting some statistics about the mistreatment of transgender people of color. We all deserve equal treatment, rights, and protection, no matter our sex, gender, sexuality, or ethnic background.
Professionalism
A lack of makeup is seen as unprofessional. I feel that it is an unfair standard put on women.
